The Shutdown Season

Metropolitan annually uses the cooler months of late winter and spring to repair, rehabilitate and upgrade its facilities, including the Colorado River Aqueduct, water treatment plants and its vast pipeline network. |

The California WaterFix is a collaborative effort to make critical improvements in the state’s main water supply delivery system and preserve the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta environment.

Pioneering Pilot Colorado River Land Management Program
Farmers in the Bard Water District in southeastern California will voluntarily skip their spring and summer plantings and transfer saved Colorado River water to Metropolitan under a groundbreaking two-year pilot program revised by Metropolitan's Board of Directors. |

Metropolitan has joined other western water districts, the U.S. EPA and the Bureau of Reclamation on a competitive grant program aimed at discovering the next generation of water-saving devices technologies.

Metropolitan's Bob Muir Named Communicator of the Year by National Group

The National Association of Government Communicators selected Muir, Metropolitan's veteran press officer, as its 2016 Communicator of the Year. The group said Muir "earned the award for his responsiveness, subject matter expertise, and straight talk in communicating to media and with the public during the 2015 Southern California drought." |
